Yesterday's Training

Row 1000 m

3:26

I was quite happy with this. My intention before this WOD was to beat my previous week's time fo 3:39 which I did by 13 seconds. I have to say this is probably the toughest distance for me as it's right in between the mental attitudes of going all out and pacing and it feels like you need to do a little bit of both for success at this distance. Great mental test.

  1. Do you have any tips for rowing? I find that it, amongst a few other things, are my main ultimate weaknesses. Would love to hear any advice you have to give! I definitely have a love hate relationship with it.

  2. I find a lot of clients really dislike rowing (especially in a WOD combined with other exercises) because so much energy is wasted in the pull. Too many people are worried about their stroke rate and are essentially pulling completely with their arms. I watch a lot of videos of the top rowers in the world and try and copy their pull as a combination of leg push, lean and arms, returning the handle back over my knees before re-bending them. Once a more efficient stroke is attained, it's all a mental game, one that can only be won with lots of time on the rower. Best of luck!
